Bek has a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honors), graduating from the University of Newcastle in 2019. While studying Bek worked as a support worker for clients with a variety of disabilities, and as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in a Rehabilitation Hospital. As part of her degree, Bek completed placements in acute, rehabilitation, paediatric and aged care settings. Bek completed her final year placement in Broome, WA where she developed a passion for working with Indigenous people and interest in working in remote communities. Since graduating, Bek has worked in disability across the lifespan in both NSW and NT, moving from regional NSW to Darwin in 2020 to gain experience working in remote communities and with neurological rehabilitation.
Bek is passionate about working with individuals of all ages, listening to their stories about their life experience and supporting them to maintain their independence and remain living within their community. Bek is particularly interested in cognitive rehabilitation, completing her honours on Cognitive Rehabilitation for Traumatic Brain Injury in Rural Remote NSW.
